RP's Under 18 Beats Myanmar

Nokia-Pilipinas notched its second straight win by clobbering the host nation, 108-39, in the SEABA Under 18 championship on Tuesday at the Thuwunna National Stadium here. The Nationals never really encountered much opposition as they ran rings around the hapless local players whose infancy in the sport was made very obvious by their failure to check the Filipinos' unrelenting full court press. As in their 87-59 win over Malaysia on opening day last Monday, practically everybody in coach Eric Altamirano's 12-man rotation scored, with 6-foot-6 Jethroy Rosario, a TIP standout, leading with 20 points and seven rebounds. "The boys were both physically and mentally prepared, and they are very focused," said Altamirano, who spent the entire game seemingly watching what looked like a mere workout for his boys in preparation for tougher game today against Singapore. The Singapore is one of the three threats to Nokia-Pilipinas' campaign in this tournament serving as qualifier for the Fiba Asia Under 18 in Yemen this September, the two others being Thailand and Malaysia.

Bustamante Wins World 9-Ball

Francisco “Django” Bustamante reigned supreme in the 2010 World Pool Championships (World 9-Ball), defeating Taiwanese “The Little" Monster” Kuo Po-cheng, 13-7, in the final.

Sa wakas nakumpleto na din ang pagiging bilyarista natin. Lahat kasi ito ang pangarap maging WPA World 9-ball champion,” Bustamante said after winning his match at the Qatar Billiards and Snooker Federation hall in Doha, Qatar early Tuesday morning (Manila time).

Salamat sa Diyos ito na lang ang missing sa career ni Django,” said Philippine Billiards godather Aristeo “Putch” Puyat of Puyat Sports, a long-time benefactor of Bustamante.

On the way to the final, Bustamante beat compatriot Antonio “Nickoy” Lining, 11-5, in the semifinal round to arrange a titular showdown with Kuo who edged Johnny Archer of the United States, 11-10.
Bustamante took the top prize of $36,000, Kuo settled for $18,000 while Lining and Archer got $10,000 each.

The WPA World 9-Ball was Bustamante’s 4th championship this year after previously being a member of the winning Team Asia that routed Team Europe last January 17 in the Asia vs Europe Challenge Match.

He defeated Puyat Sports stable mate Reyes to win the 23rd Annual Japan Open — Open Division in March and took home the inaugural World Professional Billiard League (WPBL) championship in Winnipeg Canada in June.

2002 heartbreak
The World Pool title seemed to be elusive for the Tarlac City native Bustamante.
Although he made it to the World Pool Championships final in 2002 in Cardiff, Wales, he was unsuccessful against American Earl “The Pearl” Strickland.

At the height of the tournament, Bustamante received a shocking phone call from his wife informing him that his daughter, who was less than a year old, had died.

Bustamante strongly considered forfeiting his participation, but his wife somehow convinced him that their child would have wanted him to continue to fight.

In the final, Bustamante was leading Strickland, 15-13, but the American went through with a 17-15 victory. – With reports from Ronnie Nathanielsz, PhilBoxing.com and Marlon Bernardino

Last 64 On World 9 Ball

MANILA, Philippines – Former World No. 1 Francisco “Django” Bustamante and Allan “Surigao” Cuartero beat their respective foes to advance into the Round-of-64 of the 2010 WPA World Pool Championships (World 9-Ball) at the Qatar Billiards and Snooker Federation hall in Doha, Qatar late Thursday.

Bustamante took on Tohru Kuribayashi of Japan, scoring 9-6 to advance his quest for his first World 9-ball title.

Ang hirap at hindi rin madali ‘tong panalong ito, dahil magaling din ‘yong nakalaban ko. Medyo maganda lang ang itinira ko, at gustung-gusto ko talagang manalo dito kasi lahat naman ay pangarap maging World 9-ball champion," said Bustamante who broke the 6-all tie in the 12th rack after clustering 3 straight racks for the win.

Middle East-based pool instructor Cuartero, meanwhile, utilized his experience in bringing down billiards heavyweight Niels Feijen of the Netherlands, 9-7, keeping him on track for the coveted title.

"Buti nakalamang agad tayo kay (Niels) Feijen," said Cuartero, who raced to a 7-4 commanding lead before securing the win.

Bustamante earlier toppled Fabio Petroni of Italy, 9-7, in the 1st round while Cuartero subdued Chan Keng Kwang of Singapore, 9-7, in his opening match.

Also securing a seat in the Last 64 is Ibrahim Bin Amir, a native of Mindanao who migrated to Malaysia. He scored his 2nd straight win against Mariusz Skoneczny of Poland, 9-5. He earlier beat Bruno Muratore of Italy, 9-7.

Joven Alba, conqueror of Marlon Manalo's in the first round failed to continue his winning streak after yielding to Scott Higgins of Great Britain, 9-4. His next round match against Kenny Kwok of Hongkong.

Female Fil-Am Wins WBO Super Bantamweight

MANILA, Philippines – Filipino-American Ana “The Hurricane” Julaton is now a 3-time world champion as she claimed the vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) super bantamweight belt on Wednesday in Canada (Thursday in Manila).

Julaton overcame Mexican Maria Elena Villalobos via split decision at “Rumble at the Rama XII” at the Casino Rama in Rama, Ontario, Canada.

The scores were 94-97 for Villalobos and 96-94 and 96-94 in favor of Julaton, a former WBO and International Boxing Association (IBA) champion.

According to FightFan.com, the Fil-Am scored a hard-fought triumph in her 10-round match.
This is a great boxing town for female fighting. I’ve got to give it up to Villalobos… She’s very tough,” Julaton commented.

Acclaimed trainer Freddie Roach, who also coaches Manny Pacquiao, Amir Khan, Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. and Gerry Peñalosa, praised his female ward.

Ana looked good but we’re about half way there… We’ll keep at it and Ana will get even better,” said Roach.

The FightFan.com report noted that Julaton was off to a good start until Villalobos picked up the pace in Round 3. The Fil-Am then reasserted herself in Round 5 while the Mexican bounced back in Round 8.
The fighters both went toe-to-toe in Round 10 and fought hard to the bell,” wrote Ivan Montiel of FightFan.com.

Julaton now has 7 wins (with 1 knockout), 2 losses and 1 draw while Villalobos has 6 wins (with 3 KOs) and 4 losses.

Carlos Anton Rules Hill Climb

Triple hillclimb champion Carlos Anton paved the way for his Mark Young-Yokohama team to dominate three of the six divisions in the second leg of the 2010 Hillclimb Championship held recently.

Anton clocked a total time of 2:24.48 seconds for the two special stages held in Pias and Baksil, La Union, that saw a record number of 61 racers take part.

Anton’s Hornitex-Total teammates Alfie Concepcion and Frankie Domingo also scored decisive victories with times of 2:33.64 and 2:44.41, respectively, in Group 4 and Group 2 to further boost their Championship bids.

Anton and Domingo, back-to-back winners in the two legs held so far this year, led their respective divisions while Concepcion finished second in the first leg to Japanese driver Harohito Ono.

“We are very happy with the team’s results and all the preparations paid off,” Anton said after clearing the two stages.

Mark Thoman was second to Anton in Group 5 with a time of 2:27.34.

In the group 3 Division round 1 winner Ramsey Kairuz ( 2:41.41) was beaten by last years Group 1 champion Gary Loy (2:40.46) while Adrianne Matulac (2:43.41) rounded up the top three.

Runner's Store

>>> I just stumbled on this while I was looking for a right shoe that I will use on running. The post /news is dated last year, damn... been very busy that time and i missed it. Anyway, as I may suggest, if your gon'na be a serious runner better check this store as they will assist you more than you'll ever know that can really help you and not just your feet... let's hope the price is right too ^_^

THE SUDDEN popularity of running has seen the Philippines with more runners than ever before, and along with more runners is a slew of running-related injuries.

For while running is an excellent way to keep fit, the repetitive pounding on the pavement for extended periods is merciless to the body.

Without the correct running form and properly fitted gear, running can be an unpleasant, even painful experience.

“Everything starts at the feet. When the feet are not properly aligned and don’t support the body well, it will translate to problems all the way to your back and neck,” said Toby Claudio, founder of Runnr at Bonifacio High Street, The Fort in Taguig.

Runnr is the only running specialist store in the country, said Claudio, and probably the only one in the world that brings together under one roof three technologies that address the major components of running.

Three processes
Footworx Fitting involves three critical processes in determining the foot type before recommending the right footwear: Footprint Scanning, High-Speed Video Gait Analysis and Custom Insole Molding.

With running events held almost every week and registrants running into thousands per event, Claudio said now was the best time to have the right running equipment, such as shoes and insoles, properly fitted to prevent injuries and/or to correct feet alignment.

Getting properly fitted means getting accurate and comprehensive recommendations based on individual foot type and gait characteristics, he said.

A team of highly trained staff, all runners, will guide clients through the Footworx Fitting process.

Foot morphology is analyzed in the Runnr Podoscope.
The Podoscope has two features: A thermodynamic scanning system to view and measure the footprint, and arch dimensions to determine foot type.

Next step is the High-Speed Video Gait Analysis, where customers run on a treadmill while their feet are recorded on video to check pronation angles while they run.

“This will check your natural tendency when you run. Then you get to run to test three different shoes recommended to you and see how they correct your running form,” Claudio said.

The correct alignment from feet to leg, he said, should be 180 degrees. Ten degrees off that mark and you’re going to need the right shoes and probably insoles to reduce the angle of pronation.

When the pronation is corrected, Claudio said, the running form and speed would improve, and the sport would become pain-free and enjoyable once more.

Look for shoes that will give you the straightest alignment so that stress is equally distributed.

“Feet properly aligned absorb shock better. In flat feet, for instance, knees bend inward so the stress is on the inner side of the knees. With the right shoes, alignment can be achieved and shock absorbed better. You run better and run longer distances with less pain. The gait improves and the strides become more powerful,” he said.

Final step
The final step is the custom-insole technology called Flashfit, a molding process where insoles are heat-treated for a few minutes.

Claudio highly recommends this for people with flat or high arches, and even for those with medium arches, as a preventive measure against injuries.

“Your left foot is different from your right. With custom-insole, you’ll have insoles that conform to the exact shape of your foot and correct the alignment. Best part is, you can use the insoles in shoes other than your trainers,” he said.

Combining product and service, Claudio said Runnr has the widest selection of running gear in the country today.

The store introduces for the first time Newton, a respected shoe brand in the running industry.

With its distinct design of logs that protrude outside the sole, Newton shoes become more efficient in absorbing shock as the foot hits the ground.

The shock goes into the shoe, explained Claudio, which returns energy so it can propel the runner forward.
He also said Newton was designed to promote the natural way of running, which is on the mid or forefoot.

“The midfoot uses your whole anatomy to absorb the shock, compared to landing on your heel where the shock is translated all the way up to your body,” he said.

Other running gear
Also available are running tights and shorts by CW-X Conditioning Wear. CW-X is compression wear that wraps the leg muscles, weakened knees, thighs, buttocks and calves.

The patented Support Web weave reduces impact and load on the legs by aligning the knees, hips and ankles.

According to studies, said Claudio, the CW-X tights and shorts reduce energy expenditure by 26 and 36 percent, respectively.

They promote better circulation—very important especially when in a vertical position for a very long time.
They help reduce the workload in the running motion’s pull and push, for more efficient strides.

Coming from a family of sports enthusiasts, Claudio admitted he has never been a running fan until just over a year ago.

“I have bad feet. I have two screws on my surgically repaired knees [from soccer] and a bad back from other sports. Running was a painful experience until I discovered that with the right gear and fitting it can be an enjoyable, pain-free experience,” he said.

Expect to see results within a month using properly fitted running gear, he said.

Runnr also has accessories such as caps with sweatbands; running socks specific for the left and right foot, of nylon and spandex that are snug and which don’t absorb sweat; polar heart rate monitors specific for running and general exercise activities; water bottles; anti-fatigue energy supplements; and more.

“Everyone can run. When I started to run without pain, that’s when I enjoyed the sport. Now I do my thinking when running,” Claudio said.

Floyd Made Another Excuse

>>> Last year, the American (so called) 'fighter' named Floyd Mayweather Jr. insisting our Pambansang Kamao to undergo Olympic style drug testing before the camp of Floyd agree on a fight with Manny Pacquiao.

But in a fight of this magnitude, I think it is our responsibility to subject ourselves to sportsmanship at the highest level. I have already agreed to the testing and it is a shame that he is not willing to do the same,” said by Floyd Mayweather Jr. with a record of (W)40-(L)0 (with 25 knockouts) record.

Last month, Manny 'Pac-Man'  Pacquiao agrees on the blood testing but only up to 14 days before the fight with the so called undefeated boxer called 'Money'.

Huwag lang sa day ng fight (Never on fight day),”... “Malamang tuloy na (It might push through now),” the reigning WBO welterweight champion said.

Now, as what I have read on our newspapers and watched on TV,  I'm wondering why does the flamboyant Mayweather Jr. is now having a so called second retirement? Hmmm... and he's saying that he's the best? Man oh man, what a pussy can he be... after Pac-Man agrees on Floyd Jr's request now he retires... damn! Double Damn! Does the Team Floyd Jr's camp has anything to say about this? Do they have another so called excuse not to fight the Pac-Man if ever Jr changes he's mind? Excuses, excuses... why not just accept the fact that Manny (Pac-Man) will beat the hell out of Jr's face and you can see him cryin' like a baby while running to his father. In my opinion, Floyd Jr. is afraid to face our champ in the ring, that's all there is.

Or maybe, Floyd Jr is afraid  to fight Manny 'coz he's a Congressman now :P
And for his new record, Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr. record is 40-0-1... 40 wins-0 loses-1 chicken out :P

16 Year Old Girl In A 63 Kilogram Weightlifting

>>> Imagine this, if you met this girl on a alley and joke on her and if she tells you to stop or she'll hurl you over the street... men, believe it, in my opinion that she is no push over and better respect her or pay the price. Anyway keep up the good work Ms. Patricia Llena and may the force be always with you ^_^

MANILA, Philippines - Patricia Llena, a 16-year-old incoming nursing freshman, will compete in the 63 kilogram class of weightlifting at the first Youth Olympics in Singapore this August but her sights are set in representing the country at the 2012 London Olympics.

For the teenager from San Antonio, Nueva Ecija, the sky’s the limit as she is proficient in both weightlifting and powerlifting. Weightlifting, consisting of the snatch and clean-and-jerk, is an Olympic sport while powerlifting, made up of the squat, deadlift and benchpress, isn’t.

Last April, Llena brought home three bronze medals in the snatch, clean-and-jerk and total lift at the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, to earn the ticket to Singapore. A few weeks later, she wiped out three Asian sub-junior records in the squat, deadlift and total lift then topped the benchpress to bag four gold medals in claiming the women’s sub-junior Best Lifter trophy at the Asian Powerlifting Championships in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

Llena started to make waves in power sports last year, capturing three gold medals in the squat, deadlift and total lift at the World Sub-Junior and Junior Powerlifting Championships in Sao Paolo, Brazil, and placing 10th in total lift at the World Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Now, she’s ready to take the world by storm. Because powerlifting isn’t in the Southeast Asian and Asian Games calendars, Llena will pursue her dream of capturing an Olympic gold in weightlifting. But that doesn’t mean she’s giving up on powerlifting where the wunderkind is the reigning world sub-junior and junior champion in the 63 kilogram category. Llena beat Kendra Miller of the US and Yana Talybova of Russia for the world crown, putting the Philippines in the global map in powerlifting.

Llena, the oldest of four children, recently graduated with honors at the Montessori School in San Antonio and will begin her pre-med course at Wesleyan University in Cabanatuan City this schoolyear. She plans to advance to medicine proper and become a pediatrician.
At the moment, Llena is busy training for the Youth Olympics where she is scheduled to compete at the Tao Payoh Sports Hall in Singapore on Aug. 17. Her makeshift gym is in the family garage where she works out with sister Leah, 14, and brothers Martin, 12 and Mark, 6. Llena’s father Leonard, a Baptist pastor and former national lifter, supervises their training.
“During the schoolyear, Patricia trains from 5:30 to 6:15 every morning and 5 to 6:30 in the evening after class on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and from 5 to 7 at night on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays,” said her father. “I personally coach Patricia in her weightlifting and powerlifting training.” He introduced his daughter to weights when she was only four. Llena, a brown belter in judo and karate, began competing in weightlifting at 11.

Llena’s father accompanies her wherever she competes. He joined the Philippine delegation of Lily Pecante, Anita Koykka, Eddie Torres, Leslie Evangelista, Tony Taguibao, Betsy Bordeos and his daughter at the recent Asian Powerlifting Championships in Mongolia where the team collected 17 gold medals, 14 silvers and a bronze en route to breaking a world record and six Asian marks.
Torres, the Powerlifting Association of the Philippines (PAP) president, said although not in the Olympic calendar, the sport may be included in the Southeast Asian Games at the discretion of the host country. Next year, host Indonesia has set 44 disciplines, including wall climbing and roller skating, but powerlifting isn’t in the list.

“For the Asian Games, it’s hard to tell at this time if ever powerlifting will be included,” said Torres. “There are several Asian powerlifting countries and even more in the Asian Games version of the Paralympics. Holding it in the SEA Games will help bring it to the Asian Games.”

Torres said the PAP stages competitions for novices, differently-abled, special athletes and lower-level lifters in age group, regional and interschool meets in addition to the National Open.
“This is PAP’s way of reaching out to all kinds of lifters and it has helped discover new talent,” said Torres. “The PAP is always ready to help out even small groups in organizing private competitions and seminars. Veterans have also pitched in to help develop more powerlifters.”

Torres said age isn’t a factor in powerlifting, pointing to seniors Pecante, 45, Koykka, 50, and Taguibao, 51, among the country’s top competitors. Torres himself is 44.

“Longevity plays a key role as lifters who stay healthy compete in the sport for a long time,” said Torres. “This is why majority of those who qualify for the national team are over 40 and still making the best lifts of their lives. Try to imagine what Patricia will lift 30 years from now.”

The PAP will hold the National Open in July and host the Asian Benchpress Championships at Robinson’s Otis on Aug. 13-15.

Batista Quits WWE

>>> My, my, my... what happened to our wrestling fav Batista? Is it a done deal or just a publicity for his career? Anyway guys, we all know what his capability on and off the court that is if your a fan...  another thing comes on my mind is, does Batista will try to replicate "The Rock" Dwayne Johnson's career on the big screen? If Batista chooses to be an actor, he could don for a Marvel movie, a hero or not Batista can still wow a crowd... anyways, read the details below about his so called 'retirement' on WWE.

Half-Filipino, half-Greek 6-time world champion Batista decided to call it's quit at the WWE after over a decade of body-slamming in the squared circle, mainly because of the injuries he suffered last May 23 PPV, Over The Limit. But the news buzzing around is, after his last appearance on RAW last May 24th, "The Animal" will pursue a career in MMA! With a video of him seen training at Affliction, WWE alumni Jim Ross was asked about his comments about Batista joining the likes of Bobby Lashley and Brock Lesnar in the MMA, he stated in his blog :

“I’ve heard some rumblings that when Batista gets healthy that he might try his hand in the MMA world. This rumor is FAR from official but I do know that Batista has been doing some MMA training and has a bona fide interest in the genre,” Ross wrote.

He then added, “This would be a huge challenge for Batista if he indeed attempts to compete in MMA at a high level which, again, is not a done deal.”

As for WWE's John Cena "As for Batista, I never know how permanent 'quitting' really is. The only two I've seen quit, and truly not come back yet are JBL and HBK."

WWE has yet to announce it's official statement about Batista's actions but news around the company is he'll comeback before Wrestlemania 27. His profile on WWE's website is also transferred from RAW to Alumni section.

Philippines dominates in 108th Malaysian Amateur Open Golf

 >>> This is a game that I didn't play, well, first reason is that I don't have the money for it :P Anyway, Good job guys!!!

PERAK, Malaysia – The dominating performance of the Philippines in the recently concluded 108th Malaysian Amateur Open golf championship has validated the country’s better-than-average chances of regaining its once-lofty standing in Southeast Asia.

“We beat the best in the (SEA) region here,” Tommy Manotoc, a stalwart of many Philippine Putra Cup champion teams in the past, said in a telephone interview a day after Mhark Fernando won the individual championship that sealed a twin kill for the Philippines.

“For the past several years, this is the best chance that we have to win again,” added Manotoc, who recently took over as the chairman of the National Team and Golf Development Committees of the National Golf Association of the Philippines.

The Putra Cup, regarded as the official Southeast Asian team golf championship, in celebration of its 50th year, will be holding this year’s edition in the venue where it started, in Kuala Lumpur, in the third week of October.

No country came close to touching the Philippines in the event in the past, with Manotoc being a part of so many squads that the late great Luis “Golem” Silverio used to spearhead from the 1970s to the 1980s.

Fernando’s victory certainly gave the 28-year-old an inside track on one of the four slots in that team that is expected to be finalized by the end of August.

The Philippines last won the Putra Cup in 1996 in Myanmar with a team made up of Antonio Lascuña, Rey Pagunsan, Richard Sinfuego and Gerard Cantada.
Since then, the Philippines has rarely contended and for several years even languished in the lower half of the field.
Along with Fernando, also available for the Philippines are United States-based talents like Judson Eustaquio, Jik-Jik Abdon, Marcel Puyat and Carl Santos Ocampo.

Those belonging in the local pool are Jonel Ababa, Jessie Balasabas, Peter Villaber, Dante Becierra, Jobim Carlos and prodigy Miguel Tabuena.

Wesley So at Battle of GM's

>>> I still remember when I'm just a freshmen on our high school and played chess. Believe it or not I beat college students that time even with money at stake for additional thrill. And as my skill sharpen on the game, me and my best bud tried the high school chess club. But that time, chess is not the flavor of the game, but still we played it. :D

MANILA, Philippines—Grandmaster Wesley So stakes his clean slate when the third Phoenix Petroleum “Battle of GMs” chess championship begins Tuesday at the Character Hotel in Tagaytay City.

The 16-year-old Grandmaster emerged unscathed in ruling the first edition of the event in Manila in 2008 and in Dapitan City last year, making him the top favorite to bag the P200,000 top purse.

So, the country’s top player with an ELO of 2665, will be challenged by his fellow World Cup campaigners—GMs Rogelio Antonio Jr. and Darwin Laylo—in the tournament organized by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines in cooperation with the Tagaytay City government and Phoenix Petroleum Philippines Inc.

“So is expected to play well and defend his title, but Antonio, Laylo and the rest of the participants are all capable of pulling off surprises,” said NCFP president Prospero “Butch” Pichay, prime mover of the event with Tagaytay City Mayor Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino.

Pichay, Tolentino, and Phoenix Petroleum president-CEO Dennis Uy and brand marketing manager Jay Delloso will grace the opening rites at 1 p.m.

Jesson Cid rips decathlon record

>>> Another prodigy in decathlon is now rising like a sun. If he keeps it up, he can achieve more than that and may represent our country in the future Olympics. Another thing is, how I Jesson could get more exposure from the game and sponsors so that he can enhance his skills to be more competitive in his game.

MANILA, Philippines - Not until he can prove his age will his effort be recognized as the new Philippine record.

Jesson Ramil Cid of Far Eastern U posted 6,094 points in the boys’ decathlon yesterday, but officials still could not confirm if he had broken the 28-year-old record set by Dario De Rosas during an RP-US dual meet in Baguio City.

But Cid, who said he’s turning 19 on Dec. 31, still went home smiling after being awarded the gold medal as the 2010 National Open Track and Field Championships came to a close at the sun-baked Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Ben Silva Neto, executive vice president of the Philippine Amateur Track and Field Association, said once Cid could show his birth certificate proving that he’s not above the age limit of 18, then the record would be his.

In the stands, moments after he won the decathlon gold, the native of Dingras in Ilocos Norte said he could have done much better if not for the searing summer heat. Still, he said he was happy with his performance.

“It was okay. I expected it anyway. But I could have done better if not for the heat,” said the 5-foot-11 youngster, who said he started out as a basketball player until people around him took notice of his jumping ability.
“They said I was a high leaper. So I went into track, tried high jump and long jump, and left basketball behind,” said Cid, a third-year college student at FEU. He has the legendary Rosito Andaya and Jojo Posadas as mentors.

Andaya, who worked with great champions like Lydia de Vega, Isidro del Prado and Elma Muros-Posadas, recalled that De Rosas was already 22 when he set his record, and here comes an 18-year-old trackster breaking it.

Go Teng Kok, RP track and field president, said with or without his birth certificate, Cid, a protege of Michael Keon in Ilocos Norte, deserves a slot in the training pool.

“He has the potential. I already asked my coaching staff to talk with the FEU management so we can invite him in the training pool. We’re preparing for the Youth Olympics in November or maybe he can join the team for the 2011 SEA Games,”said Go.

Overshadowed by Cid’s feat in the discipline that combines 10 track events (100m dash, long jump, shot put, high jump, 400m run, 110m hurdles, discus throw, pole vault, javelin throw and 1500 run) was Eduardo Buenavista’s own victory.

Buenavista’s dominating performance and Southeast Asian Games hammer throw record holder Arnel Ferrera’s double gold performance were relegated to supporting scene.

Buenavista, last year’s SEA Games gold medal winner in marathon, barely flexed his muscles in winning the 10,000m run with a time of 32:59.07, while Ferrera scored a double by dominating the hammer throw (54.96) and men’s javelin (44.11).

Patrick Unso, who set a new record in boys’ 110m hurdles last Friday, took the gold in the 400m hurdles with a time of 54.18 seconds.

Joining Ferrera, Sheen Atilano (100m hurdles and 200m dash) and Unso in the short list of double gold winners was Rosie Villarito, who won the women shot put (11.08) and the javelin throw (33.04).

Other final day winners were Gregg Vincent Osorio in boys 1000m (35:43.0), Vabesa Membrado in girls 1000m walk (1:02:12.0), Joy Verlie Cabanilla in boys walk (1:01.08.02), Irin Baluran in girls triple jump (11.67), Precious De Leon in girls shotput (9.46), Archand Christian Bagsit in 400m dash (49.75), Chris Joy Bonifacio in men’s triple jump (12.24), Gervy Deriada in boys discus throw (40.25), Blessie Mae Sanchez in 400m dash girls (1:10.88), Michell Barrameda in women’s 400m (1:07.63) and John Rey Bardos in boys 400m (50.28).

>>> I always have thrills seeing this machines run on the dirt then fly on a ramp, I wish I could too but first thing first is that I don't have an off road bikes like they have... and another thing, I think Glenn and I are not related, wish we could be and if there's a chance, I wish he could teach me to ride those mean machines :P

MANILA, Philippines - Motocross superstar Glenn Aguilar of Team KTM-Therasil Lozenges displayed the form that earned him an Asian championship when he swept the Pro Lites and the premier Pro Open of the Sel J Sports National Motocross Championship Series’ seventh leg at the Clark International Speedway last weekend in Angeles, Pampanga.

Aguilar, who is still the only Filipino to have won an FIM Asian Motocrosss Championship, dug deep into his bag of tricks and with some more new techniques, swept the four heats of both the Pro Lites and Pro Open to the delight of the 10,000 Pampangueno crowd.

The 11-time Rider of the Year of Team KTM-Therasil Lozenges mastered the 14-man field of champion riders from all over the country, as he swept all races of 12 grueling laps each in the 1.2-km track, which boasts of international design and standard.

“The crowd was amazing, and so I didn’t want to disappoint them,” said Aguilar. “It was pure joy giving them a good motocross show.”

Legendary rider Jovy Saulog took the hole shot, but after two laps Aguilar caught up with him at the 25-foot tabletop jump before pulling away for good in the final centerpiece race.

Pacquiao agrees on blood testing to fight Mayweather Jr.

>>> here's my two cents here guys, on Pac-Man's or should I say Congressman Pacquiao issue on blood testing is if he has nothing to hide as a boxer he should comply to this earlier and prove that he is truly the king of the ring and for Mayweather's account on our national pound for pound hero is that he is out of excuses now to fight Congressman Pacqiuao... by the way, will Michael Buffer announce "Congressman Manny 'Pac-Man' Pacquiao"?

MANILA - Manny Pacquiao would be willing to take a blood test 14 days prior to a bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr, local media reports said, edging the two men regarded as the world's best pound-for-pound boxers closer to a showdown.

Talks between the fighters' camps stalled earlier this year over Pacquiao's refusal to agree to Mayweather's demands for Olympic-style random drug testing, with the Filipino saying he did not want blood drawn from him too close to a fight.

"Fourteen days is okay with me, as long as isn't done on the day of the fight, and only the right amount of blood will be drawn from me," Pacquiao told Filipino media.

Pacquiao's compromise could bring the two camps back to the negotiating table for a fight many feel would have the potential to be the sport's richest ever.

Since talks broke down, Mayweather eased to a decisive points victory over fellow American Shane Mosley earlier this month in a welterweight non-title bout that drew 1.4 million pay-per-view buyers.
That followed Pacquiao's mauling of Ghana's Joshua Clottey in March. The seven-weight champion has since been elected to congress back home and will need to fit his training regime in with parliament sessions after being sworn in on June 30.

However, Pacquiao believes he is perfectly capable of being able to pursue both a boxing and political career.
"I will attend sessions in the morning until afternoon then I go to the gym around 4 or 5 p.m.," Pacquiao told the Manila Bulletin.

"I will stay in the country during training camp then with two weeks before the fight, I will fly to the U.S."
